Bus Driver - Casual
Location:River Block Building - WR
FT/PT:Casual - up to 1,200 hrs/year

Job Responsibilities:
Estimated 12-16 hours per week. Position may be located in Wisconsin Rapids or Marshfield, WI.

CURRENT OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN OUR TEAM:

The Wood County Human Services Department, has an immediate opening for a Bus Driver. This position provides quality and efficient transportation services to older adults and adults with disabilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
A. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Complete daily pre-trip vehicle inspection, maintain daily checklist, and report maintenance or operating problems to the Transportation Dispatch Coordinator.
2. Assist passengers on and off the bus if they are in need of assistance.
3. Ensure passengers are seated safely and using appropriate safety restraints.
4. Secure passengers in wheel chairs or other mobility devices into the correct position on the bus. 
5. Provide transportation of older adults and adults with disabilities.
6. Provide excellent customer service to all passengers/riders of the Wood County Transportation bus program. 
7. Keep all records as required and submit to the office daily/weekly; including, but not limited to:  mileage, gas, passenger, etc.
8. Perform routine cleaning duties (daily, if necessary), maintaining the interior and exterior of the vehicle.
9. Ensure safekeeping and/or deposits of co-payments daily.
10. Responsible to know and practice the safety policies of the County.  Perform all jobs in a safe and prescribed manner.

B. OTHER JOB DUTIES
1. Accept supervision and follow directions; perform additional duties as requested by the supervisor.
2. Act as an Ambassador for the Wood County Transportation program.  Promote services provided through the program, including educating riders on routes and fares.
3. Make constructive suggestions and comments to Transportation Dispatch Coordinator on expanding and/or improving service, and of the concerns and opinions of passengers as expressed to you.
4. Participate in all appropriate and scheduled training sessions and/or staff meetings, as required.
5. Any other duties as may be assigned.

Job Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, QUALIFICATIONS
1. High School Diploma or Equivalency required. 
2. Possession of a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class B with Passenger Endorsement, or the ability to obtain one by date of hire; and to maintain a current and valid CDL while employed by Wood County.  
3. Possession of a safe driving record and the ability to maintain one while employed by Wood County.
4. Knowledge of Federal CDL guidelines, Wisconsin State Traffic Laws, and of basic defensive driving techniques. 
5. Ability and skill to operate a commercial vehicle safely, regardless of environmental conditions present.  
6. Participate in and successfully pass Federal Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing program. 
7. Basic, everyday living skills are needed, as is the ability to understand and follow oral and written directions (follow basic route information, cooperative, dependable, punctual, and maintain confidentiality).  
8. Must possess excellent customer service (the treatment of older and disabled persons, as well as other general public and staff members). 
9. Ability to read, spell, write legibly, and make basic mathematical calculations (mileage, gas, and ridership records). 
10. Ability to perform necessary maintenance and cleaning of the vehicle.  
11. Ability to send and receive verbal communication on a 2-way radio system; also to maintain the full function and operation of a 2-way radio system.
